Why is it called Gif ni Ted?

Isnt fu and do and in Katakana? https://www..com/watch?v=UpLIEplQEW4 says Gifu ni Teddo. The anime this is from Henjin no Salad Bowl is also based in Gifu. And I cant make a submission so this thread is the only way to ask lol.
